What is PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.

Platelets are the blood cells responsible for coagulation and for forming clots in wounds.

When we injure our skin, platelets form a clot that covers the wound. The skin must be repaired and, to obtain new cells, stem cells must replicate to create new young skin. Growth factors are needed to wake up and stimulate skin stem cells. Platelets contain many growth factors such as PDGF (Platelet Derived Growth Factor), EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) and FGF (Fibroblast Growth Factor), among others.

What is the PRP?

  • Finally, it is injected with a needle, microneedling or with a cannula.
