Dark circles are a common condition that affects the skin around the eyes. Although they do not always indicate a serious health problem, they can be a cause for cosmetic concern. Here are some medical explanations for dark circles by a dermatologist:

1) Dilated blood vessels: The skin under the eyes is thinner and more delicate than other areas of the body. When the blood vessels just below the surface of the skin dilate, they can cause the area to take on a dark tone.

2) Oxidized blood buildup: Blood pooled in the small blood vessels under the skin can become darker due to oxidation. A process similar to that which makes an apple turn brown when cut.

3) Lack of sleep or tiredness: Lack of sleep can cause the skin to become paler, making dark circles more noticeable. In addition, fatigue can cause discomfort and the appearance of dark circles.

4) Genetic inheritance: Genetic predisposition can also play a great role in the appearance of dark circles. If your parents have dark circles, you may have them too.

5) Allergies: Allergic reactions can cause inflammation around the eyes, which can contribute to eye formation.

6) Aging: The skin loses collagen and elasticity, becoming thinner. This can make blood vessels more visible and contribute to the appearance of dark circles.

Although there are several types of dark circles, almost all of them are accompanied by sagging eyelid skin in patients over 40 years of age. For this reason, we use HIFU Liftera, which creates microcoagulations in the fatty tissue and, with it, generates collagen and improves flaccidity in that area that is so difficult to treat with other treatments.

The key to the treatment is that it is completely painless and does not leave redness thanks to its trigger pressure that will only treat 1.5 mm from the skin surface. Making it an effective, safe treatment with no recovery time. It can also be combined with any other treatment for dark circles, such as hyaluronic acid, carboxytherapy, laser, mesotherapy…

Normally, for the dark circle region, 2-3 sessions are recommended, separated by about 60 days between sessions, which will be enough time to stimulate collagen and improve sagging in that area.

The procedure is simple. The area to be treated is cleaned well, a conductive gel is applied and we will use a pen-shaped device to be able to treat the entire periocular area in a simple and safe way. About 2000 shots are given in that area per session with a treatment duration of about 20 minutes. After the treatment you can continue a normal life since there will be no redness left.
