Exosomes Treatment

IN LONDON

Exosomes.

High regenerative power.

What are they ?

Exosomes are small particles that cells use to communicate with each other. All cell types have and produce exosomes. Each cell type can also produce different types of exosomes.

Although there are many types of intracellular particles or vesicles, exosomes fall into the category of extracellular vesicles, between 40 and 140 nanometers in diameter. Many viruses are this size. Lipoproteins that transport cholesterol or other fats are also this size.

Sometimes, products that supposedly contain exosomes are actually compounds filled with protein aggregates and not exosomes. Exosomes can be of animal, plant, or bacterial origin and can be modified in their content and surface to produce products with one or another function

What does the procedure involve?

Stem cell exosomes have high anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties when applied topically. These are precisely the types of exosomes used in regenerative medicine. The exosomes currently used are not of human origin, but they retain this regenerative power.

During the coronavirus pandemic, exosomes were administered as a respiratory nebulizer to critically ill patients with pneumonia admitted to the intensive care unit, reducing mortality by 50%. Exosomes have been used for various types of alopecia, including androgenetic alopecia, frontal fibrosing alopecia, alopecia areata, and effluvium, with excellent results and improved hair thickness and density.

What is a session like?

1. TREATMENT AREA

We discuss the area and condition to be treated with the patient.

2. PREPARATION

We prepare the area to be treated.

3. PRODECIDE

The exosomes are applied to areas previously treated with mesotherapy or microinjections.

4. MINIMIZING DISCOMFORT

To reduce discomfort from microinjections or mesotherapy, sessions are performed with the assistance of a vibrating device to minimize pain.

5. RETURN TO YOUR ROUTINE

You can return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure.

6. POST TREATMENT

It is advisable not to wash your hair on the day of the procedure to allow for longer penetration of the substances applied to the scalp. The scalp can be washed the following day.

Is it painful?

Minimally painful. We use pain-reducing systems.

Does it require sick leave?

No

How long does a session take?

15 minutes. Recovery time Immediatemo

How often are sessions necessary?

Exosome treatments are usually performed every 1 to 3 months, but this can vary depending on the indication.

Your dermatologist is the best person to help you choose the appropriate frequency for your mesotherapy treatments.

When will I see results?

Treatment results using non-human stem cell exosomes usually begin to appear after 3 months. The reason we have to wait this long is the length of the hair growth cycle on the scalp, which is 3 years.

Who is a good candidate?

Good candidates for the application of STEM CELL EXOSOMES are all androgenetic alopecias and inflammatory alopecias such as alopecia areata, alopecia universalis, alopecia totalis, frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris, folliculitis decalvans, and all alopecias whose mechanism of action involves an inflammatory process.

Stem cell exosomes stimulate other stem cells and have significant regenerative power. They also have an anti-inflammatory effect, as it’s been demonstrated in other skin conditions. This mechanism of action is especially interesting in two types of alopecia: androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata or inflammatory alopecia, as mentioned above.

Contraindications

The procedure should not be performed on people with serious concomitant conditions, such as those undergoing active cancer treatment or those with fever, serious infection, or similar conditions. For complete details on contraindications, consult your physician.

Pre- and/or Post-Treatment Advice

  • It is common to experience some pain in the treated area of the scalp. This pain is self-limiting, meaning it resolves on its own, and does not require treatment unless the patient wishes to alleviate the discomfort and take a painkiller. Occasionally, some patients experience some pain or swelling in the scalp, similar to those experienced after microinjections or mesotherapy with other substances. This is a self-limiting reaction that resolves spontaneously, but it can be a cause for concern in some patients. Treatment is not required, but anti-inflammatory medications can optionally be taken for one to three days.

  • For other advice, side effects, or adverse reactions, please consult the informed consent form provided by your physician.

Scientific Evidence

Exosomes have been widely studied in dermatology for the treatment of alopecia, and numerous references exist that demonstrate their effectiveness (Kost Y, Muskat A, Mhaimeed N, Nazarian RS, Kobets K. Exosome therapy in hair regeneration: A literature review of the evidence, challenges, and future opportunities. J Cosmet Dermatol. 2022 Aug;21(8):3226-3231. doi: 10.1111/jocd.15008. Epub 2022 Jun 2. PMID: 35441799.).
Exosomes derived from adipocyte stem cells appear to be the most effective in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (Gupta AK, Renaud HJ, Halaas Y, Rapaport JA. Exosomes: A New Effective Non-Surgical Therapy for Androgenetic Alopecia? Skinmed. 2020 Mar 1;18(2):96-100. PMID: 32501792.). These exosomes are also effective in the treatment of inflammatory alopecias such as alopecia areata or scarring alopecia (Li Y, Wang G, Wang Q, Zhang Y, Cui L, Huang X. Exosomes Secreted from Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Are a Potential Treatment Agent for Immune-Mediated Alopecia. J Immunol Res. 2022 Feb 3;2022:7471246. doi: 10.1155/2022/7471246. PMID: 35155688; PMCID: PMC8831060.).
The positive effect of colostrum cell exosomes is also known (Li Y, Wang G, Wang Q, Zhang Y, Cui L, Huang X. Exosomes Secreted from Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Are a Potential Treatment Agent for Immune-Mediated Alopecia. J Immunol Res. 2022 Feb 3;2022:7471246. doi: 10.1155/2022/7471246. PMID: 35155688; PMCID: PMC8831060.).
